We are a 24 hour, 7 day a week shelter for homeless families. An average of 35 individuals may receive shelter for 8-12 weeks. RI Family Shelter is the only temporary emergency family shelter of its kind in the Kent County area. All families are welcomed. Approximately 300 individuals per year receive shelter. Over one half of all sheltered are children.
Our Case Manager works daily with each family to assess their problems, set goals, and to give them support and guidance that will enable them to establish a stable home environment upon leaving the shelter. A Child Care Coordinator offers friendship and support through recreational and educational activities.
	Special programs and groups are provided which include parenting skills, substance abuse, health issues, and budgeting. Community resources and agencies are some of our referral agencies.
