Rhode Island Family Shelter
Rhode Island Family Shelter We are a 24 hour, 7 day a week shelter for homeless families. An average of 35 individuals may receive shelter for a maximum of 8 weeks. RI Family Shelter is the only temporary emergency family shelter of its kind in the Kent County area. All families are welcome, approximately 300 individuals per year receive shelter. Over one half of all individuals sheltered are children.
Our Case Manager works daily with each family to assess their problems, set goals, and to give them support and guidance that will enable them to establish a stable home environment upon leaving the shelter. A Child Care Coordinator offers friendship and support through recreational and educational activities. Rhode Island Family Shelter
Helping many children and their families Special programs and referrals to other community resources are provided. Some of these programs deal with parenting skills, substance abuse, health issues, and budgeting. Community resources and agencies such as Westbay Community Action, Warwick Welfare, R. I. Donation Exchange, and Warwick Boys and Girls Club are some of our referral agencies.
